Mika, a lonely teenager abandoned by his divorced parents, grows up in a boarding school sheltered from the instability of his two families. His father, Charles, is a failed entrepreneur and diabetic and is dragging his way through the ruins of his second marriage. Elena, his mother, a manic-depressive, alternates between flamboyance and despair in her new husband's luxurious residence.
Mika’s more stable but repetitive life is shaken up one evening in December when he receives a phone call from Elena. What she tells him injects energy, intensity and colour into his life, but also disarray, anxiety, loss and intense fear. Fascinated and overwhelmed by his mother's exuberant freedom, Mika embarks on a journey with her through the City of Light. A journey both physical and existential. Thanks to his mother's madness, and in spite of it, Mika will finally emancipate himself and become the young man he needs to be.
Cécile Rist
A graduate of ESAD, Cécile Rist trained in London, Paris and Italy, and is an actress, author, scriptwriter and theatre director. She is the artistic director of BordCadre, a company with which she has spent 8 years in residency supported by the institutions, directing some fifteen classic and contemporary plays in France and the UK.
She began her career on stage and on British television. In 2024, she created her third play, L'HELIPCE, supported by La Chartreuse de Villeneuve les Avignon, with 11 actors on stage and a running time of 5 hours. The show will be revived in 2026.
She wrote and performed in LE LOUP, a short film directed by Jérémie Leloup and selected at the Brest, Rennes and Valenciennes festivals.
Cécile Rist is currently developing two feature film projects, on her own or as co-writer: a comedy (TROC) and a family adventure film adapted from her first play (L'ENFANT ET LE BRIGAND).
NOS RÊVES À L'ÉTROIT will be her first feature film.
The scriptwriters
Marc Ponette
Trained as an actor at INSAS in Brussels, Marc Ponette alternates between TV and film roles. He has worked with Catherine Corsini, Patrick Grand-Perret, Alain Berberian, Frédéric Sojcher and Joyce Bunuel.
A series of encounters led him to study screenwriting at the CEEA (Conservatoire Européen d'Écriture Audiovisuelle). Introduced to screenwriting by Pavel Lounguine (who co-wrote the feature film L'IDIOT) and Jacques Doillon, who supervised the writing of a feature film (co-written with Armelle Lesniak), he tried his hand at directing.
He co-wrote two short films with his friend and accomplice Patrice Juiff: APRES LE COMBAT and UN TYPE DISPONIBLE. The latter was selected for the Clermont-Ferrand International Film Festival and won the CNC Quality Award. Both films were bought by France 2.
Serious health problems forced him to interrupt his career for several years. Now fully recovered, he has resumed writing with Patrice Juiff.
Patrice Juiff
Patrice Juiff has been selecting, directing and producing the entire cycle of public readings at Beauvais's scène nationale since 2017. He is also the lead singer of the group Nijinski, which he founded in 2018 with guitarist-composer Jérôme Jasmin.
After studying Art History and Archaeology at the Sorbonne, Patrice Juiff turned to acting, first for the theatre, then for film and television. He has appeared in some fifteen shows and made around sixty films and TV movies, notably with Nicolas Klotz, Gérard Jugnot, Benoit Jacquot, Laurence Kasdan and Miguel Courtois.
At the same time, he has written and published four novels: FRERE ET SOEUR (Plon, 2003), KATHY (Albin Michel, 2006), TOUS LES HOMMES S'APPELLENT RICHARD (Écriture, 2015) and FOREVEUR (Éditions Du Rocher, 2016). His collection of short stories, LA TAILLE D'UN ANGE (Albin Michel, 2008) was nominated for the Goncourt short story award and received the Grand prix de la nouvelle de la Société des Gens De Lettres.
He began writing screenplays with Marc Ponette. He collaborated on several short and feature films (LA TRAVERSEE, CACHE- CACHE...), and in 2024 published a play, MURMURATIONS (Editions L'Harmattan).
